What is the “Anointing?”

Dear Friends:

We have returned from our trip to celebrate the homegoing of my Mother-in-Law, Mrs. Versa J. Baker. What a service it was! Now, I want to deal with another common heresy espoused by many of today’s prominent Word of Faith/Charismatic teachers. We have all heard about the “Anointing” from these teachers, however, what most of us have come to believe about this teaching is misguided and inconsistent with the teaching of the Scripture.

The fact that I am interested in Christian Apologetics causes me to network with other persons who share my love for this discipline. Therefore, I am recommending a message from a ministry that has greatly helped me in my research on the many issues that the Church is facing in this post-modern society. This is a message about the “Anointing”, and it was taught by Rev. Matt Slick, the founder of the Carm Apologetics Ministry. His address is www.carm.org

After you get on the site, click on the “Sermons” button, scroll down to the very last message, and there you will see the title “You are Anointed of God.” Please read it, and feel free to give me any feedback on this site as I subscribe to Rev. Slick’s understanding of the passage he is sharing. I know you will be blessed just as I was blessed.

Will Be Gone for a Few Days!

Dear Friends in Christ: I am writing to inform all of you that due to the death of my Wife’s Mother, Mrs. Versa J. Baker, I will be out of sync for a few days. I would respectfully ask that each of you pray for our family during this time of sadness. However, we are absolutely confident that our Mother knew and loved the Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, unlike those who have no hope, our hope is in Him who has the keys to both death, hell, and the grave! Paul reminds us that “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” The Lord Jesus called His servant home sometime between late last night and early this morning as she slept, and we’re confident that “Mom Baker” was awaken in the presence of her Savior! We will always cherish her warm smile, gentle and loving spirit, and her strong sense of family. She loved to worship the Lord; she was gifted to sing with a beautiful voice, which she did regularly. She also loved the preaching of the Word of God! Mom Baker was married to a Pastor who preceded her in death. I trust that she knew how much everyone loved her! We will miss her tremendously, but, we thank God for giving us a wonderful “gift” in the person of Versa Jane Baker. Mom, we love you! We will miss you! We expect to have a glad reunion someday soon, and until then, tell “Daddy Baker” we said hello and that the family has been enlarged with more of his Great Grandchildren since he has been gone. Tell Daddy that he would be just thrilled to have met Jeremiah, Briana, Anthony, and Isaiah, and Chosen.  Take care and may your eternal rest be one of joy, peace and freedom from all of the ailments that afflicted your body in this life! With Much Love! Your Family

Just a Few Words About Some of the Comments!

Dear friends in Christ:

I thought I’d follow up with sharing some thoughts as it relates to some of the interesting comments and personal e-mails I have received. First, I am always grateful for busy people taking the time to comment on something I have written that caught their attention. Many of you are very gracious and kind, and I do appreciate your encouragement.

On the other hand, I have received a few e-mails that the persons did not address the real issues I raised, but were content with trying to bash me. Of course, that has not and will not deter me from “speaking the truth in love.” I would however, request that you deal with the “issues”/and/or subject that I have posted. There is no sense in becoming angry because I expose your “favorite” preacher for the hersey he/she is spouting!

My recommendation is for you to study the Word of God and see ifyou’re able to refute what I say from the Bible! Yes, Creflo Dollar is a false teacher! I don’t believe for one moment that he is doing it out of ignorance, but that he has learned how to manipulate people, and because we do not study Scripture, we think men like him and women like Juanita Bind’em Bynum know what they’re talking about.

Therefore, I must ask that you be prepared for much more exposure of some of these modern-day Ministers. I always try to be truthful, fair, and balanced in my approach to exposing heresy and the Ministers who propagate these teachings. Pray for me as I seek to honor the Lord in a spirit of genuine humility and Christlikeness.

Blessings to All of You!
